F/O A McPherson DFC
Sgt F W Gregory
LAC H F Over
Take off 0500 Plivot, shot down by ME 109s near Lanaken (Limburg) Belgium. The crew are buried in Heverlee War cemetery.
This same aircraft, with F/O McPherson as pilot carried out Bomber Command's first operation sortie of the war on 3 Sep 1939.
Another story which perhaps deserves to be more widely known.

Citation for the Distinguished Flying Cross L/Gaz 10/10/1939 page 6796
Flying Officer Andrew McPHERSON (39200).
This officer carried out reconnaissance flights early in September, 1939. On one occasion he was forced by extremely bad-weather conditions to fly close to the enemy coast at very low altitudes. These flights made possible a successful raid on enemy naval forces. _________________ Ken |
